OpenAI's Latest TTS Model Now Available in WebOutLoud

In the latest version of WebOutLoud (3.28.4) for iOS and Mac, we've added the ability to choose between two of OpenAI's Text-to-Speech models, "tts-1" and "gpt-4o-mini-tts".

tts-1

"tts-1" is OpenAI's original text-to-speech model that has been available in the app for some time now. It delivers consistent and natural-sounding speech with a stable tone.

gpt-4o-mini-tts

"gpt-4o-mini-tts" is OpenAI's latest text-to-speech model and was recently added to WebOutLoud. It offers more realistic and expressive voices, though quality may vary across content.

We believe most users will prefer OpenAI's latest model, gpt-4o-mini-tts, as it delivers more expressive and lifelike audio. However, since the technology is still evolving and may have some inconsistencies, we've provided the option to use the original model for those who prioritize consistency.
