🎙 How to Download More Text-to-Speech Voices for WebOutLoud (Mac)
WebOutLoud offers two types of voices:
Premium voices – High-quality, cloud-based voices that sound better and are often more reliable. These require a premium subscription.
Free voices – These are the built-in macOS voices available to both free users and basic subscribers. You can add more of these by following the steps below.
To download more Free voices on your Mac (so WebOutLoud can use them):
Open System Settings
Click the Apple menu () → System Settings.
Go to Accessibility
Scroll down and select Accessibility in the sidebar.
Click "Spoken Content"
You’ll find it under the Vision section.
Click the ⓘ Button Next to “System Voice”
You’re not changing your system voice — this just lets you manage all available voices on your Mac.
Find and Download More Voices
A window will appear with all available voices.
Click the ⬇️ Download button next to any voice you want.
Done!
Open or refresh WebOutLoud, and your new voices will be ready to use.
✅ Tip: "Enhanced" voices sound better but take up more storage.
🔄 If new voices don’t show up in WebOutLoud right away, quit and reopen the app.
⚠️ Note: After a macOS update, previously downloaded voices may be removed by the system.
If voices are missing after an update, repeat the steps above to re-download them.
