🎙 How to Download More Text-to-Speech Voices for WebOutLoud (iOS)

WebOutLoud offers two types of voices:

  • Premium voices – High-quality, cloud-based voices that sound better and are often more reliable. These require a premium subscription.
  • Free voices – These are the built-in iOS voices available to both free users and basic subscribers. You can add more of these by following the steps below.

To download more Free voices on your iPhone or iPad (so WebOutLoud can use them):

  1. Open Settings
Tap the Settings app on your home screen.
  2. Go to Accessibility
    Scroll down and tap Accessibility.
  3. Tap "Spoken Content" or "Read & Speak"
You'll find it under the Vision section.
Note: In iOS 26 and later, this is called "Read & Speak". In earlier versions, it's called "Spoken Content".
  4. Tap "Voices"
This will show you all available voices for your device.
  5. Browse and Download Voices
You'll see different languages and voice options.
Tap on any language to expand it and see available voices.
Tap the ⬇️ Download button (cloud icon) next to any voice you want.
  6. Wait for Download
The voice will download automatically. Larger, higher-quality voices may take a few minutes.
  7. Done!
Open or refresh WebOutLoud, and your new voices will be ready to use.

Tip: "Enhanced Quality" voices sound much better but use more storage space.
🔄 If new voices don't show up in WebOutLoud right away, force-close and reopen the app.

⚠️ Note: After an iOS update, some downloaded voices may need to be re-downloaded.
If voices are missing after an update, repeat the steps above to download them again.

📱 Storage Tip: Voice files can be large (50-200MB each). Make sure you have enough free space on your device before downloading multiple voices.
